...I grew up wishing on a star.

Okay, so Warped Tour yesterday... let's start from the beginning, shall we? I was supposed to go with Jeff and all of his friends, and the original plan was for us all to leave at 11:00, but they decided they wanted to get there at doors, so they were going to leave at 8:00. I had calc and jeff didn't want to leave that early, so we did wind up leaving at 11:00. Well, the ride went smoothly for most of it. Smoother than last year, anyway. We were stuck in traffic on the mass pike and then in Boston for hours last year, causing us to miss half the Warped Tour. Well, we thought we were home free this year until we were like 7 miles from the venue... bumper to bumper parking lot traffic. When after an hour we got up to our exit, it was closed. East and West. Both sides of the highway. The whole road to the venue was blocked off. We had to take the next exit and sat in stop and go traffic there until we finally parked at a Stop&Shop. We called Jeff's friends from the car around 1:30 and realized that we had already missed The Ataris and Yellowcard, and that we were probably going to miss Simple Plan, too. So Jeff was pissed and let me tell you that he's probably the least fun person to sit in traffic with, especially when he's driving. But anyway, we got there a little after 3. As we were walking to the venue we could hear All American Rejects and the Used. We got there just as Andrew WK started his set. Yay... I could give two shits about Andrew WK. It was hell pushing through all the 12 year olds, getting from one end of the venue from the other. When we finally got through Jeff was like, "I'm not going to push my way through that again. We're not going to see Bowling for Soup" who was playing at the other side of the (much too small) venue. So standing there in my bathing suit top, and realizing that I didn't put any sunblock on my back (not that it mattered because it was already 3:00 anyway), I looked at the set list board and realized that there was no one left on the main stages that I wanted to see, except Mest... who I really could care less about compared to the other bands I missed... The Used, The Ataris, Count the Stars, Brand New, Simple Plan, All American Rejects... and I started to cry. Yep, I cried at the Warped Tour. I know, who does that?? Me. I felt like such a fucking girl, too. But that upset Jeff who was now happy even though he'd been a completely impossible ogar ever since traffic because he was seeing Andrew WK, so he agreed that we could go see Bowling For Soup and I managed to stop crying. After Andrew WK was done, we headed back to the other end and realized BFS wasn't going on until 4:10 at the Ernie Ball Stage. So we met up with his friends, or half of them. Not Jason, who is a dick, and had a VIP pass. I hate him. But yes, BFS was awesome, but I did temporarily ditch Jeff and his friends who were content to stand at the back to move closer. I actually ran into Rachelle from work in the thick of it. haha I always run into that girl at concerts. So we rocked out to BFS together. They were so awesome. I can't wait to see them on their own tour again. But yeah, while I was all in the thick of things, a crowd surfer fell on me, knocked me to the ground, and landed in my lap. Somehow, too, my foot got all bent out of shape. At first I thought it was broken, but when I checked it out later, it looked okay. It killed by the end of the day, and still doesn't feel great at all... but oh well. It was worth it. After BFS we headed over and saw Mest. They were better in Hartford last summer, but Tony is amusing. So I still enjoyed them. I didn't hear them play "Cadillac", though. Next we saw Dropkick Murphys who I don't really care for one way or another, but their following, especially in Boston, is like ridiculous. So that was really exciting to see. I was surprised they didn't close. After them, I split up from Jeff and his friends again. He wanted to see Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, but I really wanted to see Story of the Year. I worked my way over to the Volcom stage, where I caught the end of S.T.U.N and ran into Rachelle again! While I was waiting for SOTY, I cozied up to the Cout the Stars booth, and was so very pleased to see their sexyadorableiwanttoeathimup bassist, Clarke, signing and stuff. So I bought some pins, and then since I had nothing for Clarke to sign, I asked for a hug. He was all, "Sure, but I probably smell." I was like, "Not a problem." That made my day, because... mmm, he's so yummy. <3 I can't wait to see them again. But then I saw Story of the Year, and they rocked and their set wasn't cut short like at fucking 104 Fest. They said they're playing the Empress Ballroom on August 11th aka MY BIRTHDAY! I'm so fucking there. *Excitement!* When they were done, I walked around and checked out all the booths. I bought some cds and a Yellowcard t-shirt for Jeff. I felt really bad that he missed them, and it had a crab on it so it was fitting. I wandered over to the BFS booth, and there was a long line of people for them to get stuff signed. I didn't really want to wait in it, but I just wanted to watch them. hehe I guess their bassist, Erik, noticed me just kind of chillin' watching them, and he held up his hand to give me a high five. It took me a minute ot realize that he was looking at me cause he had dark glasses on, but when I figured it out, I walked up and slapped him some skin. I walked away with the hugest grin on my face. I was so giddy. I <3 BFS so much. That made my day. Anyway, I met back up with Jeff and his friends and we saw Big D and the Kids Table who put on a really awesome show. They're so energetic. [EDIT:] In debating whether or not to write about what an asshole Jason was during Big D because he refused to lift up this girl to crowd surf, I almost forgot to write about how I saw my crush the boy from Red Chester that I <3. hehe I talked to him, too. That was fun. He was all impressed that I already have his album. [/EDIT] And then we went up to the main stage and saw Less Than Jake close. They were also great, but the figure 8 pit at the end was awesome. Even though I killed my foot going into it. It was worth it though. We didn't get stuck in any traffic getting out of the parking lot or anything (It took 2 hours for Jeff's friends to get out of the parking lot) but we did hit another 45 mintues of traffic on the way home. So Jeff got all ornery again. But yes, that was my day... It started out really crappy, but wound up not being a total wash. Text messaging kellystar back and forth throughout the day kept me entertained. haha And I am very happy that we are going to the Randall's Island show on the 9th. I still *have* to see The Ataris and Brand New and and and TAKING BACK SUNDAY! :-D And I'm sooooo getting there like before doors open this time. And if there's traffic... I swear to God! Anyway, going to see Pirates of the Carribean again tonight, so maybe I should go be productive or at least shower before then. Yep, I'm still covered in filth from yesterday. I'm so gross. haha Later, skaterz.

WOW. -dizzy-
It's a good thing you ended up finding your way... I didn't have a Boston area map in my work van. :p

What's up with missing the Ataris before 3pm? They're the headliners, they're supposed to go on last.

Anyway parking at Randalls is a bitch. My mom dropped us off last year so we didn't have to deal and this year I'm driving to a friends in Queens and taking a bus in. But yeah I guess in other places they play at venues but Randalls Island is just a big dust field (another thing to remember, your boogers will be black a few days after from all the dust you breathe in haha. So don't wear a white shirt). But yeah, Randalls is the best for Warped Tour. I can't wait.

So that's why my snot is all dark! I was like, "I didn't have a bloody nose..." hahaha I got so much dirt in my mouth during Less Than Jake's figure 8 pit it was ridiculous. My spit was brown. It was nassssty. But thanks for the advice!

And yeah, the Ataris went on at like 12:00 or something. It was ridiculous.

i almost cried too. we had to leave early because our ride left cause she couldn't find me and my friend? i missed LTJ, Dropkicks, Thrice, and other bands after 6. I came home and cried. I was in the pit for The Ataris, and I left Coheed to get in their pit early and be up front. I ended up leaving their pit because someone fell on my head and knocked out. I was looking foward to it all year, and I had to get hurt and leave early. :(

Yeah, that Warped Tour just sucked in so many ways. I'm sorry you got hurt. The venue was way too small, too. I hope they move it back to Suffolk next year.
