I hope everyone had a nice 4th of July. Mine was, well, hot. I went to Radio 104 fest and I had a good time hanging out with people and such, but other than that it was pretty lame. It was 90+ degrees outside so needless to say I just about got sunstroke and am pretty sunburnt. I'd have rathered the heat though than cold, don't get me wrong. We (Amie, Eric, Mark, Val, and I) got there around 11:45. Over the course of the day I met up with/ran into Courtney, Todd, Jeff and his roommate Kevin, Susan and her friend Kristen, Chase, Brad, Megan and her brother, Rachel and Rachelle from work, Eric Simpson, Melanie from band, Michelle B. formerly from LTD2, and some girl from my Italian I class whose name escapes me, plus many others. But yeah, lots of people and that was what was mostly good about the day. Anyway, when we got there we caught the end of The Exies, so I got to hear their (only) good song. Throne was on next and they're terrible. Zug Izland wasn't any better so we decided to chill elsewhere. We came back for 2 Skinnee J's who put on one of the best performances of the day. Man, I hate that they aren't going to be anymore. They were one of the first bands I ever saw, and the first times I had a crowd surfer fall on my head. Radio 104 fest isn't going to be the same without them. We listened to a bit of Authority Zero and then Gob. Gob was one of the few bands that I was looking forward to seeing, but it just wasn't a good set for them. I think they'd do better playing an exclusively punk show like the Webster where people might actually give a damn about them. We took an (unnecessary) bathroom break so I missed Diffuser and part of Story of the Year's set. I only missed one song, but that turned out to be 1/3 of their set. Those fucking bastards at Radio104 cut their set to three songs to get their stupid festival back on schedule. If I wanted to really see anyone at that show it was them. I was so pissed. They attempted to play a 4th song but they turned off their mics. Assholes. I hate 104 sooooo much. But for the short bit that they were on stage, they were awesome. The next band I remember seeing was Boy Sets Fire. They were good, but I was still too pissed off about Story of the Year to listen to them so Courtney and I decided to go see if we could catch a glimpse of Stephan Jenkins who was signing autographs at the time. We just missed him, but I did get to see Story of the Year who was signing after them. They signed my program, which I really didn't care about, but I did get to tell them about how outraged I was that their set was cut and find out some details about their upcoming album. I can't wait to see them on Warped Tour. (I finally bought a ticket, now I just need to figure out who I'm going with...) While I was chatting up Story of the Year, I missed Smile Empty Soul which I was kind of disappointed about, but oh well. Switchfoot was good, but by then it was really really hot and really really crowded. Breathing was becoming difficult by the time Hot Hot Heat (irritably appropriate) came on. Everyone I was was with was pretty annoyed by them, so that made me enjoy them less. Fuck you all, I like their cd. But they did play for too long. Yeah, that irritated me, too, that other bands were getting longer sets and starting *early* after those fuckers cut SOTY's set short. Radio 104 should die. I only kind of listened to Revis but was more getting anxious to see Third Eye Blind, the only band there that I absolutely adore. Well, let me just say I'm glad I saw them at the Webster a while back, because it sucked. They only played like 5 songs, and while they were good, I couldn't enjoy them because of the people fucking MOSHING around me. You don't fucking mosh to acousitc music, you jackasses! Idiots. So then I'd had enough of the crowd and the heat and the sweaty fat people and the people smoking when there wasn't enough breatheable air as it was and went and sat on the lawn with Amie and Courtney. From there I watched Autopilot Off and Eve 6 both of whom were great. I would've enjoyed them more if I wasn't ready to pass out from the heat by that time. We all went to the main stage at that point, and of course, lawn seats suck so I could barely see the bands. Not that I really wanted to see Trapt anyway because they're not that good. Hoobastank fucking owned, but they're really just not suited to play to 25,000 people. They would've been 1000x better at a smaller venue. Evanesence was good, too, but not as good as their cd. We split before Staind came on and chilled at Courtney's for a bit. Grilled some hot dogs, took a dip in the pool, and were attacked by swarms of moths. Good times.

Today I went to work two hours early by mistake which sucked, but it did force my ass out of bed. I got some photo printing done and just about finished the CivicTour collage I was working on, so the day was not without productivity. Jeff and I went up to the mall and watched the fireworks. That would've been a nice ending to a good weekend, but it's not over. I called out of work tomorrow because Jeff and I are fighting holiday traffic and going to Maine for his friend's wake. Yep, mourning the death of those who have died tragically and much too young is always a great way to end the holiday. I don't mean to sound bitter, and I'm not annoyed at having to go, it just sucks, not for me but for Jeff and all of this fraternity brothers, and that man boy's family. I can't imagine what I would do if I lost any of my friends. Just really remember people that you never know if you're going to have tomorrow, so live each day to the fullest and don't waste your time staying angry at people because you never know if that's going to be the last time you see them. I know it's depressing, but I'm serious. And I, probably more than anyone, need to take my own advice. I probably need to go to bed, too, because tomorrow is going to be long and emotionally taxing. And at some point I need to study for my calculus quiz. *sigh* Later, skaterz.
