Why am I plankton?

Sorry for the lack of posting but I've been a wretched combination of stressed, busy, and sick. I have a lot to post about but I think I'll focus this just on the lovely (but too short, as always) weekend I had with athena2483 in NYC.

I was happy I was able to make it into NYC by 9PM on Friday, and luckily the weather cleared up and it was a gorgeous night. We tried to go to Art After Dark at the Guggenheim but the line was literally around the block, so we gave up. We wound up instead at 212, a sweet little vodka bar and restaurant. We met up with athena2483's Aussie friend, Adam, and his Aussie friend, Kristina. athena2483 and I shared a drink out of a coconut and we ate yummy desserts!

Saturday we went to Ino for brunch and had delicious paninis and bruschetta. We spent the rest of the afternoon shopping in SoHo where I spent way more than I could afford to, but sometimes you gotta splurge, right? The clothes at Anthropologie were too cute to pass up! Also, I had nothing to wear out that night. We met with athena2483's friends Johanna and Lauren (who had an elaborate itinerary planned for us) for dinner at Rayuela (awesome atmosphere and delicious sangria, but the food wasn't really for me). We kind of lost track of time, but managed to make it to our play (The Break-Up & The Happy Sad) just in time, though we couldn't sit together. (Probably better, because if we had it might've turned into an encore of the giggling fits at this year's Easter Vigil). The play was good... there was random out-of-place singing which so far is conducive of all off-Broadway plays I've seen. What was unexpected was the nakedness and the penises just hanging out there! It was only a very short portion of the play but athena2483 and I giggled the entire time like the 12-year-olds we are. After the play we went to Buddakan for drinks... delicious and fabulous atmosphere. Very chill and relaxing. Lauren wasn't feeling well and Johanna had to catch the last train back to Stamford (which she missed), so athena2483 and I had to finish off the evening on our own, but we stuck to Lauren's itinerary and went to Pop Burger on our own. Met some interesting characters and athena2483 ordered things off the menu without knowing what they were. (Wouldn't you expect a "Gobble Gobble" to be a turkey burger? ;) )

Unfortunately I had to peace out pretty early on Sunday. I dawdled around her apartment for a bit and then realized that it was probably going to take me a lot longer to get to Grand Central than I thought because I don't think subways run as often on the weekends. Not wanting to miss my train, I hailed a taxi. I wasn't sure how much it would be, but every single cab we'd been in had a credit card machine, so I wasn't worried about not having that much cash. But of course I GET IN THE ONE CAB IN NYC WITHOUT ONE. So I had a small panic attack to myself the entire time, worried I wouldn't have enough money to pay the man. Luckily I did, and made my train with plenty of time to spare, but it was scary.

I spent all of Sunday and Monday working on my presentation or being sick (I stayed home from work Monday.) My presentation went okay considering half of my notes didn't print and I could barely talk my throat was so sore. I think the giant microbes were a big hit. :)

I'm feeling better now, but now I have to go to an Ear, Nose & Throat specialist to get my (still swollen despite antibiotics) lymph nodes checked out. "It's probably nothing, but we should just make sure," says my doctor. Well, I hope it's nothing considering I can't get an appointment until the end of May. :-P

ION, Lisa moved out! But, more on that later. Now I have to finish stuff up here and get to class. Which, is the last place I want to be... I have so much else to do!!! And I need a nap like woah. Later, skaterz.

so i'm not commenting on this latest entry, sorry.. but i DID go out and buy vegan cupcakes take over the world and i was wondering what your suggestion was for my first cupcake batch? i'd like to make something easy to start but i wanted your opinion.. i was thinking maybe the low fat vanilla cupcakes cause those seemed easy enough and they're low fat!! lol

My low fat ones came out not that great when I tried them. I would go with the basic chocolate ones... they're pretty easy.
