BITTNER, Charles G., Jr. Charles G. Bittner, Jr. of Manchester, entered into eternal rest on Monday, (December 3, 2007) at the UConn Health Center in Farmington after a long battle with cancer. Charles was born in Blythville, AR on February 1, 1949. He was the eldest son of the late Colonel Charles G. Bittner, Sr. and Elizabeth Ann (Wilson) Bittner. Charles graduated from Central Dauphin High School in Harrisburg, PA and attended the University of Connecticut. He proudly served in the U.S. Army until his discharge in 1976. Charles was employed at C&M Warehouse in East Hartford for 35 years until his retirement. He was also a member of Teamsters Local 671. He enjoyed golf, Formula 1 racing, and had a passion for working on antique Porsches. Charles is survived by his beloved daughter, Laura Beth Bittner of Manchester. He is also survived by his brother, Clarence Bittner and his brother's fiancee Robin Dumont with whom he resided with the last years of his life. Charles also leaves behind his aunts, Ann Boas of Winthrop, ME and Dorothy Crigger of Canadaiqua, NY as well as cousins Michael Bittner, Pamela Bittner, Louis M. Boas, Peter D. Boas, Debra Bittner, Chesleigh Bittner III, Bette-Jane Crigger Phd., and William Crigger. He is predeceased by his cousin, Jeffrey Bittner, and many dear aunts and uncles. He also leaves behind many special friends, including Georgine Leavitt, Arthur LeBlanc, Ben Hauschildt, Bill Macintyre, and Andrea Criste. There will be a graveside memorial service at Rose Hill Funeral Park in Rocky Hill, on Friday, December 7, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society. The family would like to thank the entire oncology staff at the UConn Health Center for their care and support these last seven years, and for helping to brighten Charles' life during such a difficult time.

I am so sorry. I lost my mother last year. I know that tere is nothing anyone can say but know that soon enough all with ok.

Parents shouldn't be allowed to go before you're like 40 and they have grandkids and such. I'm sorry for your loss.

It sounds like he lived a very fullfilling life before he got sick.
