Megan and I got up to Boston around 9AM to do the Lupus Walk with Delta Sigma Pi. It was perfect weather for a charity walk... sunny, breezy, not too warm, not too cool. Gorgeous day. Our group alone raised over $2700 for the cause (thank you to everyone who donated!) so that was excellent.
We had a nice little BBQ with everyone, courtesy of the Boston Alumni Chapter, and then we headed over to where the concert was going to be. We figured it best to park close to the venue then have to try and take the T amongst all the Red Sox fans later. We went to go check out what time the show started and what time it would end, and we poke around the (very sketchy and ghetto) concert hall for a while until we find someone, and then when we walk out we're like OH HAI TOUR BUS! So then we stalked it for like three hours. With no sign of Mandy. :( We did have really good nachos at Qdoba, do some shopping at Jasmine Sola (I wish I wasn't so poor...) which resulted in Megan getting a beautiful coat, had a few Octoberfests though before we gave up on actually seeing her, and then we went to Cheesecake Factory (omg the one in West Hartford is opening up in November!) and had delicious delicious food.
After the delicious delicious food we went back to the venue and got in line outside. And MANDY WALKED BY! ZOMG SHE WAS THISCLOSE AND WE ALMOST MISSED HER! And my heart caught in my throat and then she was back on the bus. By the time they let us in we had tons of time before Mandy was going to go on, so we just sat down off to the side. Chris Stills and Rachel Yamagata opened for her and they were both pretty wonderful as far as opening acts go. When it was time for Mandy to come out we got up, and we could see okay, but there were a lot of tall assholes who kind of were blocking the way. (I'm still waiting for the 7ft asshole in the bedazzled baseball cap to post his videos on youtube...) But it didn't matter because she was so wonderful! She played almost all of Wild Hope, and a few songs off of Coverage, and she played the guitar! And she was funny and sweet and you could tell that she was so into her music. It was an amazing show, and it was so cool to see her rocking out on stage. I think I loved the closers the best though... :)
She did her cover of Rhianna's Umbrella (SO MUCH BETTER) and her new rock version of Candy (also SO MUCH BETTER) and it was awesome. :)
We hung out afterwards and even though the staff tried to jostle us around, we did get to see Mandy when she came out! Look how close I was!! *SQUEE*
So close that my camera didn't really want to focus! lol I got some really good hair shots though... I wasn't fast enough to get her to sign anything, but I don't blame her for being quick... she had to be in NYC to play on the View in like a few hours. Gross! (But the performance went really well.)
But yeah, the whole day was amazing so THANK YOU MEGAN! Ugh, I would've given anything to not have had class on Wednesday and been able to go to her show at the Webster, too, but oh well. Those of you who haven't heard Mandy's new album, Wild Hope, you need to go get it NOW. It's amazing and I'm in such love with it. And I'll get to listen to it when my alarm goes off in 4 hours (I finally changed out my Sugarult CD for Wild Hope in the alarm clock because I thought it might actually make me want to get out of bed/make mornings less painful) so I should probably go to bed. I'll write that other entry about everything else... well, when I get around to it. So who knows. *sigh* Later, skaterz.
