Always the tone of surprise.

First, before I get to my recap of the book party, I need to point you all in the direction of the most hilarious Deathly Hallows recap ever. Obviously, don't read it if you haven't finished DH and you don't want to be spoiled.

So, the book party... foreverseenstar and I got there a little before 8, but not before taking some pictures of us in the AMAZING scarves that daydreamer made us.

Unfortunately it was really really warm wearing those very heavy wool scarves and robes at the book party, so they didn't last long there. I'm very excited to be wearing mine ALL WINTER (and probably as much of Fall and Spring as I can get away with) long. :)

So we get to the book party and they try to tell me that someone has already picked up the bracelet for the book I reserved. Uh... no, nice try. So some arguments later, I get my freakin' bracelet. Assholes. We mill around a bit, check out the festivities. Most of the staff were dressed up. There was a decent Tonks, and a pretty good Hagrid, but the one dressed as Arthur Weasley totally was the best. He and his granddaughter (who entered the costume contest as Ginny) got their hair dyed red together. We signed up for the costume contest, wandered around and got some free ish, deflected the cries of incredulty that a Gryffindor and Slytherin were wandering around together, and then went and had our pictures taken.

Yes, we are huge nerds. And yes, I was embarrassed when I knew the person who was taking the pictures. Just as I was embarrassed as I ran into one of my former bosses (who works in the mall office and was helping to run all the festivities) as well as some acquaintances from college. *facepalm*

The costume contest took up a good chunk of time. Most of the costumes were absolute crap and consisted of a lot of half-assed Harry and Hermione's. There was this portly child who looked just like Dudley, and he could've won hands down because he even had the spoiled brat attitude, too, but he entered as Harry and not Diddykins. There was an Aunt Petunia who was really good, a halfway decent Snape, a few decent Moaning Myrtles, and a woman who dressed as Neville's grandmother, complete with a vulture on her hat! There was also a flipping AMAZING Trelawny, like dead on. I was like, "Emma Thompson?" But she didn't win because of some assclowns dressed as a broom and a snitch. :P The winners in the other age groups were fantastic though... a small, but very intimidating Voldemort, and a girl dressed as the Fat Lady! :) Brilliant!

The winners of the costume contest.

He-who-must-not-be-named trying to seduce foreverseenstar !

We both entered the contest, but as our costumes weren't particularly createive, we didn't win. But hands down we did have the best robes of anyone there. Like no one even came close. People kept asking where we bought them and were always extremely impressed when we told them that foreverseenstar made them. :) We win! \o/ The late nights of robe making were worth it.

After the costume contest we got a snack and chilled out. It wasn't long before they started getting people in line for the book. We couldn't figure out how the hell they did it, because there didn't seem to be a whole lot of logical order to it, but whatever. We weren't too far away from the registers, though I think I rather would've been at the end of the line than who we were standing behind. Remember the obnoxious kid I mentioned above that is Diddykins identical twin? Yeah, him and his disgusting slob of a mother were in front of us. He kept whining for a wand, and shoving his mother around. LITERALLY SHOVING HER. And he was not small, he was succeeding in pushing her. And the mom thought it was a fun game. If he'd not referred to her has his mother, and she to him as her son, I would've assumed she was an older sister. But worst part is? The mom is wearing this completely in appropriate tank top which shows most of her midriff because not only is it too short, there is a slit up the center of it where it parts to show off her belly button ring. Only thing is she did NOT have the body for this. Her disgusting cellulite ridden stomach was spilling out of it, and I almost vomitted on more than one occasion. Luckily at midnight, I put in my headphones and blasted them, so as not to be spoiled, so at least I didn't have to listen to them. I should've brought a blindfold though. *getting nauseous thinking about it* I would've taken a picture but I'm pretty sure it would've cracked the lens of the camera.

What robe is complete without an iPod pocket?

It was about 12:30 when we got our books, and we went to Taco Bell (Fourth Meal!) to get fuel for our long night ahead. Well, we thought it would be a long night. We kept dozing off in the middle of chapter 2. Who'd have thought not getting any sleep all week would've affected us? foreverseenstar and I went to bed and I managed to get a second wind, so I stayed up til 4 and got another 70 pages under my belt. Turns out I would need that head start because foreverseenstar caught up to and then passed me. And then she took a nap, and I got another 70 pages ahead, and she managed to catch up and then pass me again. We wound up finishing not far from one another though, around 1AM on Sunday. And then I was horribly depressed for days.

I'm reading the book again now, and I'm not really depressed anymore. All of the JKR interviews have lightened my spirits. I did really like it though. I thought it dragged a bit in places, but for the most part it was perfect. It's not my favorite, but I did like it. I'll have some mroe substantial thoughts after I give the book another go round I think, which at this rate I don't think will be until the end of August. lol

I wish we'd taken more pictures, but it's just as well that we didn't because foreverseenstar's camera is kind of crappy. I just got my new one and we'll have that for Dragon*Con, where there will be TONS of picture taken. (ZOMG, LESS THAN A MONTH! ZOMG NEVILLE! AND THE WEASLEY TWINS!) I'm getting very excited even though there's tons to work on for costuming before that. (We are attempting the Ginny Yule Ball dress and foreverseenstar is also going to do an original design for Luna.) Anwyay, I wanted to get these posted before they were ancient history, but alas, I have work to do. Later, skaterz.

Ah me and my craptastic inherited camera. *le sigh* I'll bring my memory card to Atlanta too in case we need an extra gig of space for stuff.

I have a gig, too. It'd be just about imposible to fill it up... well, I take that back... videos take up a lot of space. But you should bring your camera, too. I'm sure we won't be together 24/7.

Wasn't the book release party just an amazing experience? Not just because yay! new book, but just the energy and the atmosphere of it all. I think I want to try knitting a Hogwarts scarf soon. Of course, I have to finish all my other knitting projects first.

And I haven't finished it yet, but that recap was pretty damn awesome.

It really was fantastic. :) I am sort of sad that there won't be any more of those... I kept thinking the whole time, "Ooh, next time I want to do this or this" and then I would be like, "Oh wait...nevermind..." :(
