Apparently we are no longer at war, AIDS is not sweeping through Africa, the ozone layer has been restored and pollution obliterated, crime, poverty and disease have been erased and all is well with the world. How do I know this? Because the only thing on the news is fucking Sanjaya. WHO. CARES. I realize that half the civilized (and I use that word loosely) world watches American Idol, but PLEASE can we have some perspective. Sanjaya is ruining the integrity of American Idol? *snort* WHAT INTEGRITY?! A co-worker was just in here complaining that people need to realize they should be voting for talent instead of it being a popularity concert. And she was all upset about it. And all I could repeat is, "It's AMERICAN IDOL." Some girl is hunger striking until he gets kicked off? Please! If you're going to go on hunger strike do it because of a REAL injustice. If she starves to death, it serves her right. (I'm sorry if this offends those of you on my flist who watch American Idol. Maybe I just don't get it cause I don't watch, but c'mon. I just think that people should be concerned with REAL news and REAL problems around the world, not some talentless loser with bad hair who is ruining the so-called integrity of a manufactured reality show. Hopefully we can agree to disagree.)

As for Lost, that's an hour of my life I can never get back. That was maybe the most pointless episode ever. It wasn't unentertaining, but pointless. And it seemed to have such potential. And next weeks? I have negative desire to see Juliet and Kate get into a cat fight over Jack. *rolls eyes*</bitching>

On a much less cranky note, I have THE BEST A&P TEACHER EVER. So, my lab partner and I went down after lecture to finish our cat dissection with the other lab section, but they had to take a quiz first, and the spare room was in use by other class. So the teacher was like, "Well, I don't know what I'm going to do with you during the quiz." So jokingly I said, "Well, we could always just forget about the whole second part of the cat dissection lab." And to my surprise she was like, "Okay." *stunned* We told her we didn't have much left anyway (mostly because we lied about having done it all on Monday to our lab instructor) and she agreed to tell our lab instructor that we'd finished it. I love her. She is one of the best teachers I've ever had.

But ugh, I have a lot of studying to do in the next two weeks. I have a quiz on the entire skeleton on Monday that I'm not even close to being prepared for, and I have an exam the following Monday. Not fun.

Other bonuses: Today is payday! And I get to see EB tonight! :)

Okay, I've been neglecting actual work like it's my job. Later, skaterz.

PS - Harry Potter is ruining my life. I walked in today and my co-worker was like, "You look exhausted!" Naturally I had to explain it was probably due to the fact that I got sucked about 60 pages further into Goblet of Fire than I'd planned to last night, which of course mean I didn't get to sleep until around 2:30AM. Again, prioritizing is not one of my strong suits.

*LALAO* Thank Lord, I stopped watching Lost after episode 7 of season three. Jack is pretty, but, not as sexy or delicious as Sawyer!!! Gosh, why more women and the closeted men are fighting over him, puzzles me.

Why do people care about AI? Clearly, the girl going on a huger stike has no real life.
Mar. 29th, 2007 07:33 pm (UTC)
Seriously! My Lost motto is: Jack's crying. Must be Wednesday.

I really hope the hunger strike girl is doing it just to get 5 minutes of fame and not because she really thinks AI is worth that.

I stopped watching AI a long time ago because it's stupid. And last year I gave up on Jump-The-Shark-Weekly (aka Lost). Television is highly disappointing.

Time to go shower and eat. Gotta be gone in half an hour.

Lost has definitely fallen quite a bit from it's first season wonderfulness. I am still holding out hope it will get back there though. Besides, at this point I still want answers. I'm sure if things keep up the way they are I'll grow apathetic, too.

I've been watching AI kind of sporadically this season (specifically, when it's on after something else and I can't find the remote). I must agree that Sanjaya sucks a lot, but anyone who didn't already realize that AI is largely a popularity contest deserves to sit through 17 episode a week or however often it's on these days.

In other news, both of my actual bosses (the ones whose departments make up 90% of my work) were like, Sure, whatever! regarding my request for time off, so now I just need the directors' approval...

Oh, also, I just saw Garden State for the first time on Sunday, and I was like, My life makes so much more sense now!! Erm, or at least your away messages. :)

:claps: You're rant on AI was simply beautiful. I've never understood the appeal of that show.

Thank you. :) I have to admit it's hard not to get drawn in simply because it's all anyone talks about. And last season I couldn't help but think Katharine McPhee was enchanting, but... yeah, seriously? Most of the time it's just the annoying monstrosity that preempts my good FOX programing.

Somone is doing a hunger strike over American Idol? That's beyond ridiculous. Seriously.

The next two weeks sucks for me too. I don't want to even think about it.

I hope she starves to death. (Though from what I hear she could stand to lose a few anyway.)

Next two weeks... gonna need lots of chocolate and coffee, I think. And someone will probably have to put my roommate's Harry Potter books and movies under lock and key.

ZOMG he ruined the integrity of the show??? What do you have to do to do that? I'm kind of impressed. I mean, their integrity is so high to begin with!
Mar. 30th, 2007 02:25 am (UTC)

I think it was really his hair that ruined American Idol.

Lost: so I should just not even bother with my tape then? I don't even care that much, and have abandoned the once already... by mid poin in S2. (damn Nathan Fillion guesting sucking me back in...) so if it's just a nonsensical total waste of an hour, I'll skip it.

AI: Okay, I may be Canadian, but we have Canadian Idol, too... and you know the only time it ever gets covered on the News as a news story and not some entertainment piece? When the winner's announced in September, and maybe - maybe if there's someone local to the area that gets booted. Other than that? It's covered on the Entertainment shows and that's about it (and at that usually the ones owned by the same company that owns the network that airs CI). That all being said, the things the nightly news tends to lead with on the Canadian channels versus the American tend to be drastically different as well... Odds are in a given night I can catch the start of the news on say ABC and it'll be something violent, and over on CBC? Unless there's been a suicide bomber in Afghanistan? I'd put money on it being politics, or maybe the Conrad Black trial. *shrugs*

I just can't believe people are making such a big deal about a 'talent' competion. (and I say this is as someone who watches CI every summer...) I mean, yes, you have to have some talent to get through to the broadcasts, but after that? It's a popularity contest. Nothing says the viewers have to agree with the judges, or be at all logical in their choices. The girl going on a hunger strike? Does she honestly think that's going to change anything? Of all the things to go to that extreme over... I mean, why not do it for something IMPORTANT? *sigh*

The entire episode centered around Nikki and Paolo (half of my co-workers that I spoke to about the episode were like, "who the heck were those people? have we even seen them before?"). Half of their flashbacks were still on the island, too. And their story didn't even intertwine with any other characters. The episode seemed very stand alone, and you probably wouldn't miss much if you skipped it. I can summarize for you if you decide not to watch.

I almost had to demand today that we turn off the radio because I was going to scream if I heard/read about American Idol from one more media outlet.
