There should be no winking in politics.

I was so convinced that today was Saturday that when my alarm went off at 6AM this morning I thought, "Silly me, forgetting to shut off my alarm! Thank God I can go back to sleep!" as I turned it off. When my cell phone alarm went off 5 minutes later I thought, "That's weird, it's not supposed to go off on weekdays... wait a minute... FUCK." *sigh* At least today really is Friday, and my weekend is relatively commitment free! I might actually be able to get stuff done! I accomplished about half the things I meant to yesterday, but that's okay because I have time to be productive tomorrow. Things to do:

take out garbage & recycling
hang autumn lights
figure out halloween costume
mail things
get tire fixed
go for emissions testing
present for uncle's wedding
drop off bracelet to be fixed
buy plane ticket to LA
go to bed, bath & beyond

There might be more, but we'll see. Free time, yays!

So the debate last night... I had to retrieve foreverseenstar from the airport so I listened to the first half hour on the radio, caught most of the second half hour on the radio but wasn't paying too much attention, and watched the last half hour on TV. I CAN NOT STAND SARAH PALIN. She barely answered any questions, she kept parroting the same things that I don't think she even understood, she LIED, and her accent and cutesy little phrases drove me bonkers. Also, if I heard her say the word "maverick" one more time I was going to tear my hair out. When I tuned in on TV it was so much worse. Her smirks and her WINKING. She WINKED. What are you doing?! "Relating to the public" all the debate analysts said. No, I did not find her likable or relatable. I found her enormously irritating. The analysts said she did really well, but IMO it's only because the bar for her was set so incredibly low that all she had to do was not completely fall flat on her face to consider the debate a success. I thought she sounded like a vacant moron. Joe Biden, on the other hand, I thought did extremely well. I didn't really have an opinion of him before the debate, but now I'm kind of in love a little bit. I thought he sounded intelligent, addressed the questions well, responded to Palin well, and came across really likable. The Today Show had a great piece with some undecided women voters from swing state's this morning: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/27006765#27006765

It was a bit comforting, because I don't think people fell for her supposed charm. I'm interested for Tuesday's debate. I think October is going to fly by, and I'm anxious to see how things pan out come election day. Later, skaterz.

I too am now a little in love with Joe Biden. And his face kind of looks like the Cowardly Lion. Awwww

I'm pretty sure my mother would leave my father for Joe Biden if she was given the chance. When he choked up talking about his first wife...I really wanted to hug him and make it all better.

I watched simply to see how she would handle pressure after the terrible showings that she has had in interviews, and I was definitely impressed with that. Except that she DIDN'T ANSWER THE QUESTIONS if she didn't like them or have a prepared little retort/answer/come back for them. The way she circumnavigated the questions that she didn't want to answer simply showed me that she was told EXACTLY what to say beforehand and wasn't able to be off the cuff. Sure, she had the knowledge to rifle through her notes and find the right answer to deliver, but really?

Sorry, talking about her makes me long winded. She makes me hate being a woman because it associates me with her. =(

Yeah, I really feel like it was a step backward for the women's movement, instead of a step forward. Biden had to tip-toe around her just to not look like the bad guy. (Did you notice he almost never called her Sarah, and the one time he quickly corrected himself with a "Governor Palin" instead?) And whenever she was cornered, she just got all adorable and cute. I think I have so much more appreciation for Hillary Clinton now.

I know. I liked how in that video link you put up one of the women commented that she can't wait for the day when a man and a woman can just debate each other without the man being criticized for attacking the other candidate because she's a woman, unlike the "discussion" thing that occurred last night.

The whole "Joe" thing bugged me too. The goal in that was to make her seem so much more relate able and friendly, it just annoyed me because he is a Senator, just as she is a Governor and both are very respected people with a lot of power. They should have each been recognized for that.

I keep remembering the costume you had that I believe foreverseenstar made you; as a witch from Hogwarts? Gosh, that was awesome. I'd wear that every day.

Joey B was made to love, for real. i love Biden so much, and the general consensus i've seen on my flist so far is that the debate made people either fall in love with him or fall more in love with him. ♥
