Quickie post.

Yes, I have some serious blogging to do, and pictures to post, but I don't have time for it now. Very busy at work today, and I have like negative free time this weekend. But, what to get some thoughts out of my very cluttered head. (I need a new prescription for my long-acting ritalin like woah.)

I will catch up on ANTM maybe next week, but I did watch Bones and Project Runway:

GO TEAM LEANNE! \o/ Another win! For the record, she has more than anyone else that's left now. That dress was freakin' gorgeous. Also, this marks the second week where both people in the bottom have been people I've hated. Not many of those left, so hopefully Joe goes home next week. Kenley is starting to irritate me though, so I'm not going to cry if she gets booted. Korto's designs are gorgeous but she's kind of a bitch.

I am really excited that Bones is back, and it was a great premiere, and I'm excited for more but, WTF WHY DID ANGELA AND HODGINS BREAK UP?! WTFFFFFFFF!!!! THAT WAS THE LAMEST MOST OUT OF PLACE BREAK UP EVAR AND IT BETTER NOT STICK BECAUSE WTF, PEOPLE, WTF. I WANT MY HODGELA BACK NAO!

I've been pretty quiet on the political front lately, even though Barack's acceptance speech just about moved me to tears, but I'm kind of curious what you all think about Palin?

Poll #1254326 Sarah Palin

What do you think of Sarah Palin as McCain's VP choice?

I love her!
2(4.3%)
Yeah, I like her.
3(6.5%)
I'm neutral.
3(6.5%)
Not really a fan.
4(8.7%)
Dude, I am fucking terrified!
34(73.9%)
I'm undecided.
0(0.0%)

So as not to bais you, here are my thoughts... which by the way are strong and not censored.

Is McCain going senile? How howhowhowHOW did someone let him make this "hockey mom" his second-in-command? She has no experience, knows absolutely nothing, has five children including a special-needs infant that she's currently NURSING, and if McCain wins she'll be a heartbeat away from the presidency? The thought that this woman could be the leader of our country is fucking terrifying. They say that VP picks have never really affected an election in the past, and they were doubting it would this election, but seriously? I mean, I wasn't voting for McCain anyway and would probably have been seriously dejected if he were to win, but now? I'm getting the fuck out of this country. He is no spring chicken and if this lady could wind up as my president? Hell-fucking-no. She was preaching abstinence but couldn't convince her own daughter to keep her legs shut? She wants parents to take responsibility to teach their children safe sex, but she couldn't bare that responsibility with her own children? She wanted to secede Alaska from the union!?!? Maybe if McCain is elected I'll move to Alaska and help with the secession movement. If you do like her, that's fine. I don't mind her as a person, or as the Governor of Alaska, or even as someone on McCain's staff, just I can't stand the thought of her so close to the presidency.

Yeah, still have lots of work to do. Dinner at the Cheesecake Factory tonight with uconngaz! \o/ Later, skaterz.

I agree 100% with all of this. She has ZERO EXPERIENCE. AT ALL. I can't even COMPREHEND her! I mean, her family issues aside, she's anti-choice, pro-censorship, she didn't even know what the VP did, she's left the country ONE TIME IN HER LIFE, she did fundraising for TED STEVENS, and SHE'S UNDER INVESTIGATION BY HER OWN STATE FOR UNLAWFUL CONDUCT! And they want her to be one heartbeat away from the highest office in our country, right behind someone who's had skin cancer multiple times and looks like he's ready to drop dead any day now?

You know, I've seen people say that she wanted to succeed from the union, but I can't find proof of that anywhere. All the speeches people've cited have just been her addressing AIP as governor and referencing a competition between them, which would imply that she didn't agree with them. The vibe I got from it was "You're entitled to your own opinion, so. Have a good day." There was absolutely nothing in there that said she personally supported their beliefs, just that she supported them having a convention about their beliefs, which doesn't mean anything AT ALL and it's a logical fallacy to assume that it does (same goes for the fact that her husband was an AIP member for 7 years - has nothing to do with her beliefs). BUT, my real reason for this, because it's been bugging the crap out of me: is there some piece of information (and by that I mean source) I'm missing?

Also, just because her kid got knocked up doesn't mean that she didn't try to teach her or that she didn't take responsibility. My mother told me not to drink underaged and punished me severely when she caught me, but I still did it anyways. *shrugs* I resent the assumption, having been a seventeen year old myself so recently, that teenagers don't have the ability to learn things and then ignore them. Frankly, it's a little insulting. Palin could've been through the roof with the safe sex talks and teachings with her kids. I agree with her that it's the parent's responsibility to teach their children shit like this, but I'm not going to point my finger at a parent with a pregnant daughter and assume they didn't try. We teenage girls have free will and brains, too.

Isn't the point that "abstinence-only" talks don't work? We're not saying that Palin didn't try to teach her kids, we're saying she is teaching the wrong thing and wants the wrong thing (read: something ineffective) taught in schools. She does not support safe sex education, and, in my opinion, that is ignorant. As you say, kids ignore a lot of what their parents say, but the difference between a kid saying "I'm going to have sex anyway" versus "I'm going to have sex anyway but I have learned I should use a condom/be on the pill so I am going to be safer about it" is pretty big. Just my 2 cents!

VPILF: Wanted books banned from public library and tried to fire the City Librarian for refusing to do so. Fired Wasilla's Police Chief because he "intimidated" her. Claimed she was opposed to the Bridge to Nowhere but lied about that. Slashed funding for Covenant House (mix of programs and shelters for troubled teens, including Passage House, a trasitional home for teenage mothers). Believes in creationism and wants it taught in schools. Opposes gay marriage. Does not believe in global warming. Supports drilling in the Alaska Wildlife Refuge. Terrible at budgeting: as Governor she proposed distributing budget surplus to individuals while borrowing for road projects. I liked McCain until I realized he is clearly losing his mental acuity in choosing one of the least-qualified, most frightening prospects ever for his VP. She is a liar and a manipulator and omg she has 5 kids she needs to take care of with her husband!! Totally irresponsible.

Would a man with five kids be unqualified?

Also, since when was McCain for gay marriage, social programs, not drilling, or telling the truth?

Okay, ignore what I said before; I *love* her as McCain's vp candidate, because it is yet another way for him to shoot himself in the foot.

I remember once upon a time when McCain was kind of cool for a Republican. This administration has beat him down, and he has utterly sold out. Aside from one, lone, solitary issue (which he still gets *wrong*) he is utterly opposed to everything I stand for. If he chooses a candidate who appears unqualified, one the media can rip to shreds, one who gets the "must legislate morality" crowd tsk-tsking, I will happily do the snoopy dance and start planning my Obama inauguration party.

The thing with McCain is that he is trying to pander to the uber-Conservatives who have always seen him as a moderate to leftist Republican. I believe that had a lot to do with his choice of Sarah Palin because you have to consider the fact that he will shift more to the middle *if* (though I pray not) elected President. Palin as the VP candidate is his way of handing a security blanket to the uber-Conservatives who are afraid of his moderate record.

PS- Can I help you plan the Obama Party?

As someone who doesn't follow politics I can't really answer your poll. But after reading what you wrote about her... I can't say I'd be too happy about her being potentially days away from running our country.

To be honest, my first thought when I heard about Palin was... "Is McCain trying to counter the black votes with the women votes?"

I don't think he's trying to counter the black votes, but I do think he's trying to pick up disgruntled Hillary supporters/Hillary supporters who aren't completely devoted to the Democratic party.

Oh my crap, I love you.

I think anyone who's supporting this woman blindly--yes, blindly--seriously lacks a proper sense of logic. Even family issues aside (which I believe are actually very telling, so it's idiotic for someone to say they're completely 'irrelevant') this woman's speech & her verdicts on certain issues provide insight into a woman should NOT be the VP. Sure, the VP many times is just a mouthpiece, but still, if something on a large scale were to occur to the president, she would be the Commander Chief. And I cannot have that. No. Ugh, I'm uber-tired, but yeah, this woman gives me bad vibes. And rarely, rarely are the vibes I ever get wrong.

Peace.

Oh, & yeah, WTF with Hodgins & Angela! I'm still in disbelief over that! Oy vey.
